Drivers Honored Some
behind-the-scenes heroes at St. Vincent de Paul Village were honored for
their efforts last summer. Drew
Williams and Alex Brynd of Penske Truck Leasing presented 19 Village drivers
with safety awards. Drivers received certificates honoring their safe
driving records, ranging from one to five years. The
drivers represent the organization to many of our donors, said John
Blanco, director of retail operations. They deserve recognition
for their dedication to practicing not only safe driving but also safe
handling of donated items. The employees make more than a 1,000
pickups each year, often loading heavy furniture, appliances, pianos and
office equipment. Father
Joe and Village Vice President Keith MacKay joined Blanco for the presentation
and a barbecue that Penske also provided to honor the drivers. Its
really nice to get this recognition, said Tim Mulvihill, who was
named driver of the year. Ive always found the people of San
Diego to be incredibly generous. Mulvihill says hes picked
up almost every item imaginable. Its a little like being in
the worlds biggest yard sale everyday. Drivers
receiving awards for five years included Rafael Barron, Francisco Valencia,
Enrique Sonora, Gonzalo Delatova, Ramon Campos and Al Anderson. Rick Robinson
was the sole recepient for the award for four years of safe driving. Eric
Herzog, Victor Gonzalez, Roberto Zamora, Luis Padilla, Raul Araujo and
Mulvihill were recognized for two years of safe driving. Drivers honored
for one year include Victor Camargo, Genaro Garay, Rafael Gonzalez, Randolph
McDonald, Jose Montes and Carlos Sanchez. We thank the drivers who go the extra mile to help Village clients by ensuring safe pickups and deliveries. |
